This question starts right from the assignment of your website to an SEO agency. For anyone, starting with SEO and this question as well as aspiration of getting first page or top rankings on Google raises high with every passing day and yet this concern rarely gets answered to anyone’s satisfaction.
In my search engine optimization career, I come across cases where lots of people where SEO agencies vouch for the fact of getting top results within a month. I really salute their (over) confidence and really get intrigued to know their magical formula (which is definitely far from reality where nobody can guarantee top positions in search engine within a month or so).So, does it mean that we would not be able to at least get any idea about a particular time frame of showing up on Google?
First of all, we all should understand that ‘How Search Works‘ and Google’s algorithm are more complex than ever when Google claims to use around 200 factors in its search algorithm to value a webpage. So, SEO not just involves the work involved to get a webpage indexed but also work according to guidelines of Google.
============= How long to get indexed =================
In a sentence, there is no fixed time suggested by Google. But one thing is for sure that the following factors are helpful in bringing the time nearer to your site visibility. The important factors are:
- How your website has been built ? (This takes care of you WebPages interlinking)
- If Google finds your website good enough to crawl? ( Server codes and what type of web content your site has )
- How Popular a webpage/website is (means are other website link back to the page or not)
- So the immediate question what the checklist of a good website is so that Google finds it ‘optimal’ to set its crawlers your website. So, how we optimize a website ?
Here are the Do’s :
- Web Server Signals : Make sure the web pages reflect 200 : Pages should return 200/OK responses. For this, you can go to this http://oyoy.eu/page/headers/ to check the response.
-Original content and compatible constituents : This is one the main factors which decide fate of your website. Make sure you follow Google guidelines, have ‘crawable’ text and do not use Flash or loading content via JS. Idea is that crawlers like to READ and we should leave no stone unturned to make them learnt.
Submit your website : Here, I wish to make clear that this is not submitting. Here, I mean submitting your site with the URL submitting tool at http://www.google.com/addurl/?
Let Google Find You:
- Go for link building and get some weblins pointing back to your site.
- I forgot that backlinks should be from same niche/topic. Means, link should be relevant.
- These links should be from quality/trusted/popular/
Google Verification of Your site : Webmaster Tools
Sitemap Submission : Learn about Sitemaps here .
Some stumbling blocks which might hamper the crawl process :
You should always check about the following, if :
- There is no poor server code responses ( 404/410/500 etc)
- Download time of the webpages ; You can refer to Pingdom tool for this .
- Too many redirects ( from page A to Page B, Page C, To Page D etc.) etc.
- DomainNameServer responses…
…that fail to resolve or that have major issues can cause problems.
- Really shoddy code/markup…
…such as seriously malformed <head></head> sections etc. can cause problems.
- robots.txt …
- Not properly setup.
- Failing to send proper response code
- No Optimization etc.
- robots meta …
It is always good to not include too many meta tags. I have seen many websites where multiple robots tag are pretty messy and knowing or unknowingly this troubles Google to read/crawl web pages .
So, how to check if a website is cached?
For this, use this
1- Site: operator = in Google search, in the search box, type in site:www.yourdomain.com or site:yourdomain.com
2- Put title of you webpage under quotes ( “your pages title” ) and Google it.
3- Pick some snipper from a webpage and under quotes, do a search
b) try doing a search for the <title> of a given page using quotes around it
c) try doing a search for a snippet of “unique” content using quotes ( “just copy and paste a short sentence of so from one of your pages” )
SEO is about understanding what your website needs to have
If you ever read about SEO anywhere, you would have this idea that SEO is about meeting your ROI with right kind of content, development of site structure etc and if you address these concerns you are on the right track. My personal experience says that this delay of time of website showing up is because the whole project is either not planned or mis-resourced.
By the two terms I mean they fail to deliver the entire development and come up in small increments which end up elongation of an SEO project. Lack of SEO implementation is so dangerous because even what seems like the smallest de-prioritization during a launch cycle can often be a very big wrench in the spokes.
I wish to share how I see the whole process. What Google is a huge database which has information about your site. Correct? And this information is generated by you – On page, off page SEO etc. So, as far as this record of Google is unchanged your information is saved up right there owing to Google algorithms.

Now, suppose you edited your website Meta description (in the lust of choosing something better), did some changes in Navigation, updated the copywriting etc, then you can expect some updates in your record in the Google database as well. If we talk about the frequencies of web crawler an important site, an average site and a brand new site is something like the following.
A Popular Site Average Popular Site New Website
Home page Once or more daily Every few days to 1 week Every 2-4 weeks
1st tier page Daily to weekly Every 2-3 weeks Every 4-6 weeks
Deep page Weekly to monthly 2-6 weeks 5 weeks to not at all
In the final analysis, one thing comes out of any professional SEO services in USA you hire. Search engine optimization competition is pretty fierce as you have to optimize your site to dethrone your rival website which have already optimized their page and that is why they are tight up there on the 1st page. So, it would come only with top-class relevancy, flawless content and good, relevant backlinks. Rest is Google’s take, thanks to the 200 parameters.
